biofeedback FAQs

What is EPR Biofeedback?

EPR biofeedback is an FDA registered device that uses electric frequency to retrain your body’s response to stress. It can help reduce mental and physical stress which contributes to overall wellness.

How does it work?

EPR Biofeedback is applied through the use of a biofeedback device that communicates with the body using Galvanic Skin Response. The device sends and receives frequencies through five comfortable electrodes worn on the wrists, ankles and forehead. The process is non-invasive, gentle and deeply relaxing. Clients sit fully clothed in a comfortable recliner throughout the session. A three - four minute test is performed and results are shown on the computer software. Based on this information biofeedback is applied to help your body retrain its stress response.

What does EPR Biofeedback feel like?

Most individuals feel nothing at all. Some experience a state of deep relaxation and a general sense of well-being. Others reportedly feel energized following a session.

Who can benefit from EPR Biofeedback?

Everyone from children to seniors and even animals experience benefits from EPR Biofeedback. The system’s communication with the client is not reliant on language, verbal, visual or conscious thought processes.

What are the possible benefits of EPR Biofeedback?

Biofeedback has been scientifically proven to help reduce stress that may be related to illness, injury or emotional trauma. It can result in an overall improved sense of well-being, greater mental clarity, pain reduction and improved physical performance

How long does a session last?

A typical session lasts between 90 minutes and two hours - the first session will be closer to two hours in length as we gather the initial information.

How long does it take to see results?

Results vary among clients but most people feel positive changes within three to five visits. Every person experiences stress reduction in different ways so there is no way for me to predict an individual’s response to their biofeedback session.

Are there any people who cannot receive EPR Biofeedback?

Biofeedback is not recommended for any person who has ever experienced a seizure or any person who uses an electronic medical device such as a pacemaker, insulin pump, etc. If you are not sure whether or not biofeedback is a good choice for you, check with your medical professional. EPR Biofeedback devices are designed for stress and pain management (EPR Biofeedback) methods only. The EPR Biofeedback device does not diagnose. Only a licensed physician can diagnose a patient.

How did you discover Biofeedback?

I discovered biofeedback when trying to help my daughter who was struggling with anxiety. I had tried every approach I knew - massage, guided meditation, breathing exercises and finally resorted to medication. The medication made her feel terrible so it just wasn’t an option for us. Then I went to a presentation on EPR Biofeedback and was intrigued enough to schedule a session for my daughter. She had amazing results after just a few sessions. School absences dropped dramatically, she was having less nausea from anxiety and her ability to concentrate and subsequently, her grades, improved as well. We were so impressed by the results that I pursued my own Biofeedback certification. That was ten years ago and she still enjoys regular biofeedback sessions to keep her stress levels in check.
